Oliver Jeffers' delightful cosmic tale live on stage!

5 May – 24 May 2024
PJ Live Arts @ Jaya One

The Story

It all begins when a boy discovers a plane in his closet and flies it into outer space!

One day a boy finds a plane in his cupboard. He flies his plane higher and higher until he runs out of petrol and lands on the moon. He is frightened, lost and alone until a passing Martian lands there too!

Who is the strange alien?
Can they be friends?
And how will they find their way back home?

With catchy music and plenty of audience participation, this stage adaptation of award-winning children’s author Oliver Jeffers’ inter-galactic tale about a little boy who forms an unusual friendship with a stranded alien is ideal for those aged 3 years and up.

London-based Big Wooden Horse Theatre returns to PJ Live Arts with this highly-interactive and child-friendly production directed by Abbey Norman. If you’re curious to experience this charming adventure about friendship and caring, don’t miss this delightful show!

As seen on:

The Malaysian Reserve – ‘The Way Back Home’ is a fun stage play for children

Chinese Taipei School – A Trip to PJ Live Arts for “The Way Back Home”

It’s delicate, mesmerising and sophisticated, cartoony and simple, almost minimalist, but also utterly magical; subtle and rich. It works perfectly with the story, and lifts it from a simple tale to a dreamlike quality that will captivate not only children but many an adult too.

Soft Cover Picture Books Are Available

Every time I read this book I thoroughly enjoy it. The illustrations really make it feel as though you are part of the book and the language chosen enables children to engage in the visual imagery. The book highlights kindness, willingness and friendship. It conveys how we are not alone and with teamwork we can help one another. This book equally shows problem-solving skills and unity; once they had found each other, "They weren't alone anymore."
